Setting up in the dark....

is not particularly fun. Make note to self: "self, DO NOT do this again....."

Actually, it wasn't too bad - I'm just tired & cranky.

We spent the last 3 days messing around in Boerne & a shopping center just north of San Antonio while repairs/upgrades were made to our rig. Three cheers for Carriage - they have been great to work with on both warranty & non-warranty issues (you know - dumb newbie mistakes). So now, we have a second air conditioner for the bedroom, and our primary air conditioner works again! (just in time for cooler weather)

We didn't get away from Boerne until after 5pm and for some reason opted to head to Leander (near Austin) rather than spend one more night in Boerne. I thought it was a shorter trip than it actually is - plus there were weather issues, so we didn't pull into our site until after 8pm! Misc. issues kept us busy until after 9 - and we're finally more or less settled in for the night. And it's only 10:30.

The next few days should be more fun for blogging - we have friends in the area and are planning lots of fun stuff!

Where are we and what are we doing - Part 2

So, the reunion is over; it's time to play and explore the area.

On Friday, it's time for a little golf-Texas style. This is the driving range and one of the holes on the Buckhorn Golf Course in Comfort, TX. It was a beautiful day, and we had a most enjoyable time.

Saturday, it's errands combined with some touristy stuff. We needed a few items at Camping World, and the nearest one is New Braunfels, so off we went! This town was established on the Comal River in 1845 by German settlers. This German influence in tradition, culture, and language is still prevalent. New Braunfels is famous for sausages, breads, and popular river resorts.

We sampled the sausage and bread at Oma's Haus for lunch.

Then we walked around the town a bit.

Henne Hardware is the oldest hardware store in Texas. Inside is a little dark for pictures, but the old fixtures were quite interesting.

Then it was time to see the water fun at Landa Park on the Comal River.

The weather was wonderful. We strolled and watched the kids of all ages playing, then called it a day to meet a friend for dinner.
Today, it's relax and get the rig ready for travel. Tomorrow, we may play while the rig is in the shop. Tuesday should be a travel day to our next destination.
Safe travels to all our RVing friends on the road.

Where are we and what are we doing?

We are in Boerne, Texas for an Escapee Class of 2007 FIRST ANNUAL REUNION!

And what have we been doing? Here is a quick overview.

There is eating, of course.

And a little geocaching.

And a little more eating....yes, that is a table full of CHOCOLATE!

Can you teach an old dog new tricks?

Well, I guess we'll see!

This is my first attempt at blogging.....lots of new little things to learn.

If successful (and not too frustrating), then I'll invite family and friends to follow our travels as fulltime RVers.

If not, welllll.......there's always our cell phones.

Since I haven't yet figured out how to add captions to pictures, and/or to place pictures & text as I really want, I give you two pictures: one BEFORE we started our travels and one AFTER - can you guess which is which?

Think NO MORE SNOW!
